2001 Sinatra Santa Barbara County Merlot

2001 Sinatra Santa Barbara County Merlot

It doesn't get much better than Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. This bottling from the 2003 vintage offers herb-tinged black currant flavor, along with a hint of leather.

About Merlot

Similar to Cabernet Sauvignon but with less tannin and fruit. Delivers earlier maturing wines. Often blended with Cabernet; on its own may soften with age, though fruit flavors may fade.

Virtually no bouquet, light but immature vintage lacking bold flavor. Finish was moderately pleasant, despite weak flavor.

I didn't really care for it- it had a strong grapey aftertaste that overpowered its pleasant enough bouquet and initial flavor. I'm no expert in Merlot but there must be better than this for $15. I rarely do this but I poured the last third of the bottle down the drain--tried to like it but didn't--no offense to the crooner--
