About Syrah

Very dark, rich, powerful wines with great aging potential (as long as 50 years), yet still can be drunk relatively young. Distinct pepper, spice, cherry and leather flavors, with smooth, supple texture. Embodied in majestic wines from France, Australia and, increasingly, California.

I am just really enjoying the Syrah's you are choosing. My neighbor and I power walk 3 nights a week...and somehow after we are done we end up on my front stoop with a glass of wine. She is a big Syrah/Shiraz fan and I've gotten her believing FINALLY that there is more than Yellow Tail out there!!!

This wine may be a representative of a Syrah, but compared to a Merlot or a Cab, this was too dry and terribly overpowering - perhaps battery acid would be more mild...

Poured at 59 degrees. Tasted at 61.8 degrees-bitter, with bite, harsh. 64.0-more pleasing, less bitter, less bite, little acidic 65.4-easy on the pallette, slightly less acidic than at 64. 66.5-great temp. lot less acidic, a little tannis, very easy on the pallette. 68.0-best drinking temp. for this particular wine. Will taste again after one day of sitting in the cooler.

Very "jammy" and sweet compared to most Syrahs I have tasted. The "jammynous" increased with exposure during tasting. It is still a fairly young wine. Not much complexity or layering. Decent buy at $10-15.
