About This Wine
Can a Canadian businessman find happiness making wine in Napa Valley?
Uh, that would be a yes. Meet Cliff Lede, a native of Edmonton, Alberta. Growing up, he helped his mother make wine in the basement of the family home. Fast forward to Lede’s late 20s, when he began hanging around a local wine shop and caught the bug. Big time. So when life provided the opportunity, he established Cliff Lede Vineyards.
The estate encompasses 60 acres in the famed Stags Leap District of the Napa Valley. The state-of-the-art, gravity-flow winery boasts a berry-by-berry sorting system and conical tanks that were commissioned using a design inspired by the tanks of Chateau Latour.
One tank per vineyard block ensures each lot evolves at its own pace, and acres of caves with single-layer barrel storage ensure access to each barrel at all times. No corner has been cut. And you can taste that commitment to quality in each glass of Cliff Lede Cabernet Sauvignon.

Expert Ratings
The least expensive cuvee, the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap, exhibits a deep plum/ruby/purple color along with a sweet perfume of cedar, black currants, flowers and a subtle hint of toast. Medium to full-bodied with beautiful density, ripeness, elegance and balance, it should drink well for 15+ years.
