About This Wine
California is blessed with a number of growing areas that are friendly to Chardonnay.
In Sonoma County, there’s the Russian River Valley. In the area that straddles the southern boundaries of Sonoma and Napa counties, there’s Carneros. South of San Francisco, there’s Monterey County. And south of Monterey, there’s Santa Barbara County, home of the 30 Degrees label.
Many of the vineyards of Santa Barbara are defined climatically by a maritime influence that keeps summer temperatures from spiking too high and winter temps from dipping to vine-damaging levels. The climate provides for a relatively long growing season, which enables the Chardonnay grapes to attain full ripeness.
The 30 Degrees Chardonnay has quickly gained a reputation for its rich and creamy mouthfeel, and its food-friendly personality — something that’s not true of all Chardonnay bottlings. The 2009 vintage, in particular, is quite enjoyable, not to mention a great match with a very popular dish in California: quesadillas.
Relatively easy to grow in a variety of locations. Consistently produces some of the world's great white wines. Complex, full, rich and fruity with soft edges and moderate acidity. Offers rich and intense fruit flavors of apple, fig, melon, pear, peach, pineapple, along with creamy yeast spice, honey, butter and hazelnut flavors.
