About This Wine
135 Years As One Of America's Leading Wineries
Young Jacob Beringer had worked in many wineries in his native Germany. But lured by his brother Frederick's glowing accounts of America, Jacob set sail for the New World ... only to be disappointed in the commotion of New York City. Although New York's bustle didn't appeal to Jacob, he'd heard stories that California's warm, sunny climate of was ideal for growing many of the same grapes he'd worked with in the Rhine Valley.
So in 1870, Jacob travelled west by train ... finding that Napa Valley's volcanic soil mimicked that of many of Europe's great wine-growing regions. Soon he had talked his brother, Frederick, into buying land in Napa Valley. By 1875, Beringer Vineyards was founded.
As the oldest continually operating winery in Napa Valley, Beringer continues to create some of California's most reknowned wines ... each one a tribute to the Beringer brothers' vision more than 135 years ago.

Expert Ratings
A very classy wine that combines rich, layered, complex fruit with a sense of delicacy and finesse. Full-bodied, but not heavy, offering detailed fig, melon, apple and spice. What's most impressive is the texture and length, with the flavors continuing to develop. Drink now through 2015. 12,500 cases made.
