About This Wine

There are two countries where Cabernet Sauvignon is king.

One is France, particularly in its Bordeaux region. The other is the U.S., particularly in California. Thanks to new vineyards planted toward the end of the 20th century, Cabernet Sauvignon has emerged as California’s most widely planted red winegrape, with 77,602 acres reported in 2010.

A vast majority of those vineyards are located in the Napa Valley, Sonoma County and the Lodi-Woodbridge AVA (American Viticultural Area). When sourcing grapes for its Cabernet Sauvignon bottling, the vintners at Braxton Hall tap growers in those and other areas in order to create a true “California cuvee.”

The 2010 Braxton Hall Cabernet Sauvignon is a rare Cab that’s ready to drink upon release. While it figures to evolve with additional bottle aging, its aroma and flavor spectrum already is quite wide — and quite enticing. Once you’ve tasted it, you’ll probably want to procure a few more bottles for future enjoyment.

About Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep color and richness with the potential to age a long time, and better still if aged in oak before bottling. Classic flavors blackcurrant, plum, cherry and spice. The most popular varietal of red wine in America.

The taste was smooth and full - no harsh bite at all.

Gives you a quick bite of tannins then immediately recedes. Good strength of taste. A dark scarlet coloring. It went well with oysters Bienville (with absinthe) and Scicilian shrimp.
