About This Wine
You may have heard that Pinot Noir is among the world’s most problematic winegrapes.
Achieving full ripeness can be a challenge for Pinot, even in the most welcoming environments. Among white varieties, Chardonnay can be equally challenging — but for a different reason.
In most parts of California where Chardonnay is planted, achieving optimum ripeness is not a problem. But the key to transforming those grapes into a sublime wine is harvesting them as soon as they reach just the right sugar level. Once that level is reached, the grapes tend to lose acidity very quickly.
Indian Creek works exclusively with very experienced grape growers when sourcing fruit for its California Chardonnay. The growers know that Indian Creek is very particular about grape quality, and work hand in hand with the winery so that the grapes are harvested at precisely the right time — no sooner, no later. That’s why Indian Creek Chardonnay is so beautifully balanced.
