In the case of Criss Cross, you get a joint venture that emphasizes the strengths of the individual parts to create an even more impressive “whole.” Criss Cross is a joint venture between LangeTwins Winery and Vino del Sol, and the winemakers are Karen Birmingham and David Akiyoshi.
Criss Cross uses the most premium vineyards of the two estates in California’s Lodi district, where the vines average 80 years in age. The vines are sustainably farmed and reliably produce fruit that is packed with personality.
Lodi is located between San Francisco Bay and the Sierra Nevada mountains, and often is referred to as the “unassuming little sister” of the better-known wine regions of Napa Valley and Sonoma County. But as the 2014 Criss Cross “Old Vine” Zinfandel demonstrates, it’s a place that’s tough to beat when it comes to Zin.
