About This Wine
It all began with a big rainstorm in 1990.
Sludge descended from the Bourgeois family’s vineyard in France’s Loire Valley, and the people whose properties were inundated were not happy. They told the Bourgeoises that they needed to do something “to protect the earth and leave it clean for our children.”
The family did not grow defensive. Rather, they took the words to heart, and immediately embraced the concept of organic viticulture. They ceased the use of herbicides, pesticides and chemical fertilizers, and ultimately achieved all the requirements to attain organic certification. It requires much more work in the vineyard, but the results show up in the wine.
The 2014 Laporte Cabernet Franc, known as “Le Bouquet,” is a delicious example. Aromatic, delicate and easy to drink, it demonstrates what can be achieved when Mother Nature is respected and revered, rather than ignored, in the vineyard.

Cabernet Sauvignon Ice Cream Our friends at Alexander Valley Vineyards came up with this wonderful recipe a few years ago. We've tried it with Cabernet Sauvignon as the recipe calls for, as well as Merlot, Primitivo, Cabernet Franc and Zinfandel... and every time, it turns out delicious! It's best made with an ice cream maker, and if you have such a machine, it's extremely easy to assemble. Enjoy! Get The Recipe
