About This Wine
2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Sherwood Estate.
It has been quite a ride for Jill and Dayne Sherwood, who have grown their winery from a very small producer into one of New Zealand’s largest independent, family-owned wineries. For many, “going big” means “going corporate,” but the Sherwoods still proudly manage all aspects of production and the entire commercial process.
“At Sherwood Estate Wines, we grow, harvest, make, bottle, distribute, market and sell our wine throughout New Zealand, Australia and internationally,” Jill Sherwood notes. “This process makes us relatively unique in the New Zealand wine industry, and we are proud of the personal involvement this brings to all aspects of the business.”
Of course, what matters most is what’s in the bottle, and the 2015 Sherwood Estate Riesling captures the true essence of Waipara Valley Riesling. It’s a fresh and crisp wine with powerful flavors, light sweetness and a very long finish.
One of the world's great grapes. Distinctive floral bouquet with balancing acidity. Grows best in cool areas where grapes ripen slowly. Subject to " noble rot", making wines of great richness and sweetness. Low alcohol.
