About This Wine
Zinfandel is a very special California variety.
Zinfandel from Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley is particularly coveted, because Dry Creek is home to so many perfectly sited Zin vineyards. One of those is the Florence Vineyard, influenced by the bordering Pena Creek, which gives the soil a well-draining, rocky quality that’s unique to the site.
The vines were cultivated from cuttings of the St. Peter’s Church clone, taken from Jack Florence’s infamous Rockpile Ranch, which produces extremely small berries that deliver intense flavors. Bella Vineyards then blends in small amounts of two other varieties and uses oak barrels from two countries to further enhance the complexity of the finished wine.
The 2013 vintage of Bella’s Florence Vineyard Zinfandel is an aromatic and deeply flavored elixir, one that pairs perfectly with slow-roasted pork seasoned with a Chinese five-spice rub or a Santa Maria-style barbecue rub. It’s a truly special rendition of California Zinfandel.
