About This Wine
Many wines are good.
This wine not only is good, it does good. The 2014 Purple Heart Red Wine is a Merlot-based blend that also includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot. It was crafted by two veterans — Ray Coursen, who served in Vietnam, and David Grega, who served in Iraq — under the close stewardship of the Peter Mondavi Sr. family, whose patriarch was a proud veteran of World War II.
The wine showcases everything we love about Napa Valley red cuvees. It’s a full-bodied wine brimming with fruit flavors and kissed with toasted oak.
What makes it even better is the organization that benefits from its sale: the Purple Heart Foundation, which is dedicated to serving the unmet needs of military men, women and families. So get a few bottles, pick up some rib-eye steaks, invite a few veterans to dinner, and thank them for their service.
