About This Wine
Combine a great climate for grape growing with a creative winemaker and what do you get?
The 2015 “Reserve Blend” from Fossil Canyon. Fossil Canyon sourced the grapes for this wine from California’s San Luis Obispo County, where the climate is greatly influenced by the Pacific Ocean. Many vineyards are sited within five miles of the shoreline, and the rare east-to-west orientation of the valleys brings a reliable cooling effect to the region.
The mornings are often marked by a thick marine layer. The skies typically clear by mid-morning, and by afternoon, the vines are often bathed in warming sun. By evening, the cool marine breezes return in force, and the cycle begins anew.
This process results in perfectly ripened grapes, and for the 2015 “Reserve Blend,” Fossil Creek’s vintner used Zinfandel, Merlot and Malbec to craft a wine that is bright, jammy and a delicious taste of San Luis Obispo County.
