About This Wine

Mario Bazan came to America in 1973 seeking a better life.

He settled in the Napa Valley, and after working in the vineyards for Joseph Phelps and other prestigious wineries, joined Robert Mondavi Winery in 1979 as a vineyard laborer and tractor driver. There, he ultimately was placed in charge of such iconic vineyards as Opus One and To Kalon.

Bazan remained at Mondavi for 16 years until moving to the historic Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in 1995. He further developed his skills while working with Warren Winiarski, Michael Silacci and Julia Winiarski. Finally, he was ready to realize his dream of owning his own vineyard management company.

The launch of Mario Bazan Cellars and the start of his life with Gloria in 2005 strengthened his dedication to growing grapes of outstanding quality. “Rama” is a Spanish word that means branch, bough or extension — a fitting name for a wine crafted from Bazan’s hand-tended grapevines.

About Cabernet Sauvignon
