About This Wine

It was 1851. Millard Fillmore was President of the United States.

A world away in Australia’s Barossa Valley, women known as the “barrel girls” were overseeing some of the first vineyard plantings on the Seppeltsfield Estate. It was their vision, leadership and hard work that helped establish what would become one of the world’s most acclaimed winegrowing areas.

There’s something special about today’s Barossa. You can feel it in the landscape, the people, the food and the wine. It’s a beautiful region with villages, vineyards and farms dotting a patchwork vista. The locals are famous for their hospitality, love of a shared table and passion for food and wine.

It’s a place where festivals, celebrations, markets and music thrive. For Aussies and visitors alike, Barossa is a unique place, where some of the world’s great wines — including the 2015 Sophie’s “Palm Block” Shiraz — can be sipped and savored.

About Shiraz

Very dark, rich, powerful wines with great aging potential (as long as 50 years), yet still can be drunk relatively young. Distinct pepper, spice, cherry and leather flavors, with smooth, supple texture. Embodied in majestic wines from France, Australia and, increasingly, California.
