Macabeo provides the elegant and floral qualities found in many of Spain’s Cava sparkling wines. But it also can be crafted into delicious table wines for accompanying a wide array of Spain’s fabled tapas. Also known as Viura, Maccabeo or Maccabeu, it is one of the most widely planted grapes in northern Spain, accounting for approximately half of all vineyards. It buds late, protecting it against early spring frosts — always important in the world of wine.
The 2016 Macabeo from Bella Sol is a light, delicate and delightful wine that entices with its floral aroma, delights with its fruit and nut-like quality, and begs for another sip with its spice-sprinkled finish.
