About This Wine
In Paso Robles wine country, Zinfandel is more than a wine grape.
In Paso, as the locals refer to their home, Zinfandel is the symbol of the region’s connection with wine. There may now be far more Cabernet Sauvignon planted there, a nod to modern commerce, but it was Zinfandel that first put Paso on the Golden State’s wine map.
Located about half-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Paso Robles is considered part of California’s Central Coast region. After long days of sun-nourishing warmth during the growing season, the vines cool off overnight, preparing for another day of slow and methodical grape development.
In Paso, old vines marry with innovation to create wines that are clean and bright, with gobs of fruit flavor. No wonder an entire festival devoted to Paso Robles Zinfandel is held each spring. The 2016 Chalkstone Vineyards Zinfandel is another in a long line of delicious Paso Zins.
California's own grape variety. Red Zinfandel (not to be confused with "white" Zinfandel) can produce full-bodied wines packed with ripe berry fruit and smooth tannins. Flavors of blackberries and spicy pepper.
