About This Wine
Jim Clendenen is fascinated by all aspects of wine.
This has resulted in a myriad of labels, varietals and partnerships, the most famous being Au Bon Climat in California’s Central Coast region.
Clendenen Family Vineyards, however, is not just another label; it’s a project of passion for Clendenen, which may explain why his name is on it. “These are artisan, small lots of distinctive wines where commerce is not the driving force,” he explains.
Tocai Friulano is a variety found almost entirely in the northern Italy region of Friuli. It was planted in the Santa Maria Valley’s Bien Nacido Vineyard in 1994, very close to the Au Bon Climat production facility. There, Clendenen says, “the crop is small and intense, and the flavors and aromatics are true to the variety.” He suggests drinking this wine as a starter for any meal, or with lighter fare such as quiche or crab salad.

Ratatouille Terrine Here's a recipe for a tasty dish that has a movie named after it this summer. The Chicago Tribune calls it "an upscale version of the French peasant dish," and we'd suggest serving it with almost any wine - white, red, pinksparkling - as long as the wine is light-bodied. This recipe yields 12 servings. Get The Recipe
