About This Wine
The 2017 Pinot Grigio from Belli Mondi embodies everything we love about Pinot Grigio.
Little wonder. The wine has a lot going for it, not the least of which is winemaker Federico Stella. When the 2017 harvest was completed in the Provincia di Pavia IGT of Lombardy, Stella knew it was going to be an outstanding vintage. That meant letting the wines speak for themselves, and in the case of the Pinot Grigio, it also meant aging the wine in “neutral” stainless steel tanks.
Pavia is the westernmost province of Italy’s Lombardy region, and borders Piedmont. On the southern side of the Po River, a surprisingly large number of grape varieties are grown, including various members of the Muscat family. But Pinot Grigio dominates, with approximately 21% of the plantings.
Stella transformed Belli Mondi’s Pinot Grigio grapes into a clean, juicy wine that’s a refreshing aperitif and tasty companion to appetizers or light seafood dishes.
About Pinot Grigio
In northeast Italy it makes a light, crisp and neutral wine. In Alsace it can be a delicately perfumed, honey-flavored wine, either dry or sweet, and with more color than most whites.
