About This Wine:
Not so for Gordon Hill. Born in Bellevue, due east of Seattle, Hill attended Washington State University, earned a degree in food science, and worked alongside a true Washington wine pioneer, Dr. Chas Nagel.
That education and relationship helped open doors at Washington wine estates, and today the “legend” sobriquet also applies to Hill — whose talents were tapped to craft the 2016 Riesling for Willow Springs Cellars.
At Willow Springs, the importance of rivers in the art of winemaking is celebrated. Some of the world’s great vineyard regions cling to winding rivers because those waterways help to moderate the air temperatures around them. Washington state also is home to vineyard-hugging rivers, and the Willow Springs Riesling is a delicious example of the quality of wine that can be made from grapes that benefit from an ideal climate.
