About This Wine:
Pinot Grigio, right? And deservedly so. That has been the primary white wine of the country (at least among exports) for decades. But the time has come to think differently about Italian whites. The time has come to consider, in addition to Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc.
The 2016 Sauvignon Blanc from Belli Mondi hails from Delle Venezie, a wine zone in northeast Italy that is demarcated “Indicazione Geografica Tipica” (IGT). Only superior wines with true varietal and regional character can use the designation. Delle Venezie is a cool-climate area capable of producing wines of great delicacy and freshness.
For the 2016 Belli Mondi Sauvignon Blanc, winemaker Patrizio Cova handled the grapes with great care, soft pressing them to retain their flavor and freshness. Cova suggests pairing the wine with fish dishes — or, in another break with Italian tradition, all by itself.
