About This Wine:
That’s why Mendoza is the most important wine area in the country. But given the enticing subtleties and nuances of wine, talking about Mendoza is like talking about Catalonia or California — vast areas that do not describe the uniqueness of Priorat or the lineage of the Sonoma Valley.
Mendoza today accounts for 81,500 of the nearly 94,000 acres of Malbec grapevines planted in Argentina, distributed over four large oases. Each of these “sub-regions” can be broken down into various terroirs, resulting in wines that cover a wide spectrum of flavors. Thus, it’s now possible for Argentine vintners to blend to a desired style.
For the 2017 Miguel Flores Malbec, two distinct areas were tapped for the grapes: Medrano and the Uco Valley. The 4:1 ratio resulted in a complex wine that showcases the attributes of each Mendoza area.
