About This Wine:

It is Amista’s estate vineyard, known as Morningstar. Located on the valley floor in the heart of Dry Creek Valley, it is comprised of the loose, gravelly soils typical of the area, providing excellent drainage. And its proximity to the Russian River Valley means that the vineyards linger in the cool morning fog before the sun begins to warm them — lengthening the growing season and intensifying the flavors in the grapes.

Morningstar has five acres devoted to Syrah, which proprietors Vicky and Mike Farrow consider among the world’s great food-pairing varieties. Their recommendation for accompanying their 2014 Syrah is pork tenderloin with roasted fig chutney… and we concur.

This is a stunning wine from first sniff to final swallow, with floral, fruitful and earthy elements that make for a memorable wine-drinking experience. It’s a truly special wine from a special place.
