About This Wine:

That’s when he purchased his first vineyard in Australia’s Hunter Valley, which was ideally suited to white grape varieties. In August of 2006, Hope bought the famous Rothbury Estate winery, cellar door (Aussie for tasting room), function center and surrounding vineyards. He also has acquired property in Western Australia (Geograph), giving him access to a wide range of climates to accommodate growing numerous varieties.

But it all started with Semillon, and Hunter Valley renditions are known for having a little more acid than their Bordeaux counterparts. Most commonly consumed young while crisp, the flavors can change dramatically over time with nut and toasty notes becoming predominant.

But in its youth, the 2017 Hope Estate Wollombi Brook Vineyard Semillon is all about the fruit, joined by a kiss of beeswax. Take a sip, and you’ll understand why Hope Estate is one of Australia’s most respected wineries.
