About This Wine:
We say “not always by name” because it has been Italy’s long tradition to label wines primarily by region, rather than varietal. When you’re drinking a fine Chianti Classico, be aware that it was made with Sangiovese grapes.
More recently, it has become more common for Italy to label its wines by varietal name. That’s the preference at Sansedoni, where veteran winemaker Alberto Antonini lends more than 30 harvests of experience to crafting exceptional wines.
Antonini is intimately familiar with the grapes of Tuscany, and gained even more experience working alongside some of the finest vintners in the United States, including short stints at Robert Mondavi, Au Bon Climat and Qupe. He now consults at wineries around the world, but Tuscany will always be home — and the place where a little bit of his heart goes into every bottle.
