About This Wine:
So many of the wine estates across the country are family-owned and operated, often having passed through multiple generations. Farming methods in the vineyard and fermentation techniques in the cellar are rarely changed, even as the knowledge base of winegrowing and winemaking has expanded.
But the family behind the Viaggiatore label has the best of both worlds. Their winery, in the Puglia region of Italy, was founded in the 1950s with a focus on tradition, but the second generation that now oversees the operation takes full advantage of modern knowledge, resulting in wines of exceptional quality.
A delicious example is the 2017 Viaggiatore Primitivo. From its deep garnet color to its rich style — it will remind you of California Zinfandel — to its “more, please” finish, it’s an exceptional Italian wine that will bring the generations together.
