About This Wine:
The growing season was dominated by gray, overcast skies — an exception in a decade characterized by bold, generous sunshine. Just when the harvest was getting underway, the weather conditions were perfect, and the grapes were riper than anyone dared hope, with truly outstanding balance.
“After a long period of reluctance, the wine is finally opening up,” said Dom Perignon’s outgoing chef de cave, Richard Geoffroy. “There is complete balance between the nose and the palate. Its slender, minimalist, pure, toned, athletic character is now also expressed with warmth. The fruit is pronounced and clear.”
Reviews of the wine have been stellar, including near-perfect scores of 98 from James Suckling, 96 from Decanter and 96 from Wine Spectator. A sparkling wine of great depth, density and complexity, it is one of the great Champagnes of the new millennium.
