About This Wine:
Braxton Hall tapped a mountainous region with volcanic hillsides for its Cabernet Sauvignon fruit, which produced a wine with great color and structure for the 2017 vintage.
Located in the northern Mayacamas Mountains, the Red Hills of Lake County frame the southwest edge of Clear Lake. Comprised of dozens of volcanic hills ranging from 1,350 to over 3,700 feet above sea level, the appellation lies over the North Coast Magna Pocket, making the Red Hills the latest formation of the volcanic and tectonic processes that created many of the famous hillside regions of the North Coast.
The soils are of volcanic origin from neighboring Mount Konocti, resulting in well-drained vineyards that are rich in black obsidian, quartz crystals and volcanic gravel content, and strikingly red in color. The 2016 Braxton Hall Cabernet Sauvignon is a magnificent wine from an appellation we’re certain to hear more from.
