About This Wine:
For Andy Friedlander, it was one great night in Amador that motivated him to pack up his aloha shirts and move them from Hawaii to California’s Sierra Foothills. He had been beguiled by the unique wines and flavors of Amador County.
Today, his Andis Vineyards produces a wide range of wines, including an amazing “Old Vine Zinfandel” crafted from grapes grown in the original Grandpere Vineyard, which was planted in 1869. It’s one of the oldest documented Zinfandel vineyards in America, farmed by only four families over its 150-year history, and produces only a very small amount of fruit each year.
Every ton of grapes is prized by winemakers, and Andis is one of only four wineries fortunate enough to get fruit from this vineyard — enough to make 180 cases of wine. Taste this personality-packed and engaging Zin… and taste history.
