About This Wine:
Bernard Duseigneur was born into a winemaking family, but left during the early years of his adulthood to spend time in London. But he returned to France’s Cotes du Rhone region and took over the helm of Domaine Duseigneur in 2002, continuing the work of his father Jean and his brother Frederic.
“Contrary to popular belief, the terroir is not composed only of big pebbles of orange color,” Duseigneur says. “There is a wide variety of soils: red clays, limestone pebbles, sandstone sands of marine origin, or deeper loams from the banks of the Rhone.”
That means the great red varieties of the Rhone — Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre — can be grown with great success. Domaine Duseigneur uses two of those varieties in its “La Goutte Du Seigneur” cuvee, showcasing the fruit flavors of Grenache and the spicy notes of Syrah. Delicious!
