About This Wine:
In France, Macon-Villages is an appellation for dry white wines made from Chardonnay grapes. They’re produced in the Macconais area of southern Burgundy. This is the home of Prosper Maufoux, a wine estate founded in 1860.
That year, the winery’s namesake decided it was time to trade his profession for his passion. So he turned his back on a career as a notary to pursue winemaking. Near the end of the 20th century, the headquarters was moved to Santenay and a big investment was made to perpetuate the culture of quality that Maufoux had instituted more than a century earlier.
Today, Nadine Gublin — the first-ever Female Winemaker of the Year as selected by France’s leading wine magazine, La Revue du Vin de France — oversees the cellar, maintaining that focus on quality. The 2018 Prosper Maufoux Chardonnay is a delicious example of her talents, brimming with mouth-watering fruit flavor.
