About This Wine:
Sardinia is Italy’s second largest island (after Sicily) and is so diverse that it’s often described as being like a country in its own right. With rocky mountain ranges and stretches of untamed coastline, Sardinia produces some internationally acclaimed wines. Sardinians have been making wine since the 1500s, when the island was called “insula vini,” or “wine island.”
While many vintners around the world utilize Carignano — a.k.a. Carignan — primarily as a blending grape to provide depth and structure to less assertive varieties, Sardus Pater opts to craft a varietal version. And the 2014 vintage is absolutely packed with personality.
The fragrance is reminiscent of myrtle, while the mouthfeel is dry, warm, full-bodied and persistent. Already aged to perfection, this is a wine you can lay down for a few more years or enjoy with a hearty meal tonight.
