About This Wine:
In 1927, Edmond Besserat, a grandson of Besserat Champagne founder Edmond Besserat, married Yvonne de Meric de Bellefon, who came from another prestigious Champagne family. With their union, the house of Besserat de Bellefon Champagne was born.
The historic Bellefon chateau in Epernay is world-renowned. Situated in the heart of the Champagne region, Besserat de Bellefon produces a portfolio of prestigious Champagnes, including the “Cuvee des Moines,” or “Blend of the Monks,” named in honor of the early Benedictine monks who were instrumental in developing the Champagne method.
The “Cuvee des Moines” Brut marries three grape varieties — Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir — from several vintages, including “reserve” wines, in a style that is soft and creamy. The winemaking and blending method enables Besserat de Bellefon to maintain a “house style” style that is dependable and delicious. You might even call it drama-free.
