About This Wine:
It’s an area that’s known for producing terroir-driven red wines — primarily the country’s star variety of Malbec. That makes it the perfect place for Altocedro vintner Karim Mussi Saffieto to ply his craft, as he loves nothing more than to allow the area’s grapes to “speak for themselves” in a wine glass.
The Altocedro “Old Vine Reserve” Malbec debuted with the 2001 vintage, and each year since has been made with grapes from Valle de Uco vineyards in Altamira, Chacon and El Cepillo. These are three distinct areas, which results in a nicely balanced wine once the cuvee has been finalized and aged in oak barrels.
The 2015 vintage represents 15 in a row that Altocedro’s “Old Vine Reserve” has defined not only the terroir of a region, but the vision of a vintner.
