2018 Vignoble Gibault Touraine, France Sauvignon Blanc
Very aromatic, floral and citrusy, this is a delightful wine from the Loire Valley’s Touraine district.
Brand: Vignoble Gibault
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
About This Wine:
Nestled in the heart of three provinces — Berry, Touraine and Sologne — their 74-acre vineyard extends over two French winegrowing designations: Touraine and Valençay. The Touraine district is in the heart of the Loire Valley, with its main commercial center, the city of Tours, located halfway between Sancerre and Nantes.
“Our vines flourish on the old terraces of the Cher,” says Patrick Gibault. “They draw on the goodness of two soil types: flinty clay and clay containing sand, silt and pebbles — known as ‘argiles à cosses.’ The grapes are harvested at their optimum ripeness and turned into wine using cutting-edge techniques.”
The 2018 Vignoble Gibault Sauvignon Blanc is a perfect example of the house style. “We give preference to extracting as much fruity flavor as possible and just enough tannins to achieve a beautifully structured wine,” says Gibault. “After all, drinking wine should be an enjoyable experience!”
