About This Wine:
But virtually all of the wine remained local — perhaps finding its way to Santiago, an hour’s drive to the west — until vintners such as Vicente Johnson came along to lend a hand and spread the word.
Johnson is known as a “traveling winemaker,” one who works harvests in various regions in both hemispheres, and among his winemaking family are the grape growers of the Casablanca Valley. Each grower, who embraces sustainable farming, has his parcel’s grapes vinified separately. Their hard work is expressed in the name on the bottle label: Manos Andinas, or “hands from the Andes.”
Through his extensive travels in Chile, Johnson has learned the immense difference even a mile can make, and knows how to match growers to varietals in developing his cuvees. Taste the 2018 Manos Andinas Pinot Noir “Reserva,” and experience his experience.
