About This Wine:
Tannat is a traditional variety that’s found principally in the Pyrenees foothills appellation of Madiran, although its origins are traced to the Basque region. It typically spotlights intense fruit, spice and tannins that produce wines capable of long aging.
For his Paso Robles Tannat, Bushong sourced fruit from two of Paso’s 11 districts. The Adelaida District is the area’s most northwestern, and is defined by its mountainous topography, nestled within the southern end of the Santa Lucia mountain range, The Creston district is named after Calvin Cressy, who founded the town of Creston on the Rancho Huerhuero Mexican Land Grant in 1884.
Tannat has been touted as being one of the “healthiest” red wine grapes, thanks to much higher levels of antioxidants such as like resveratrol. We’re simply impressed by Bushong’s dense, focused and rich rendition from the 2017 vintage.
