About This Wine:
That’s the story of Rob Griffin, who studied fermentation science at UC Davis, got a few harvests under his belt in Napa, then headed north. He and his wife, Deborah Barnard, established Barnard Griffin Winery in 1983 with a small truckload of “borrowed” grapes and a rented cellar.
Their venture has grown to become one of Washington’s most enduring and award-winning wineries. Today, the Barnard Griffin campus houses a production facility, tasting room, restaurant and fused-glass art studio.
Maintaining true craftsmanship, Rob remains fully engaged in the winemaking and leadership of Barnard Griffin, as one can experience in the complex, layered and elegant 2018 Syrah. The early vision of handcrafting the highest quality Washington wine continues to drive the estate as Rob and Deborah move to incorporate a second generation — great news for Pacific Northwest wine lovers.
