About This Wine:

“The slow process of assessing the outcome of choices made with experience and intuition is what it’s all about — and using that knowledge to make wines that fit a harmonious vision,” Tolmach explains. “Keeping the place small and keeping my hands in the winemaking has allowed me to stay focused on craft.”

That craftsman’s approach can be experienced in every wine The Ojai Vineyard produces, including the 2017 Sangiovese from White Hawk Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. “White Hawk is planted on hillsides of pure sand in Cat Canyon, near Los Alamos,” Tolmach notes. “It always has produced fruit with lots of personality.”

Tolmach describes the wine as “a different take on Sangiovese than the more weighty Brunellos, for instance. I strive to preserve a juicy freshness. It’s so versatile with food that way.” Not to mention a testament to the vintner’s craft.
