2019 Les Charmes du Roy Bordeaux, France
The result of expert blending, this Bordeaux beauty marries fruit, spice and sweet impressions.
About This Wine:
Rising up from the confluence of two great rivers where the land meets the sea, Bordeaux’s 2,000-year history is intertwined with its surrounding region. Wars interrupted continuous winemaking, but a new golden age began in the 19th century when production doubled, exports tripled, and the Brits’ love affair with “Claret” was back on track.
Bordeaux is the largest AOC in France, and this can be attributed to its great diversity of high-quality terroirs (or microclimates). Striving to perpetuate the expertise of their forefathers, the new generation of Bordeaux winemakers has found a balanced marriage of tradition and modernity.
In today’s Bordeaux, the red-grape plantings consist of 66% Merlot, 22.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9.5% Cabernet Franc and 2% “auxiliary varieties.” The 2019 vintage from Les Charmes du Roy is seldom seen outside fine restaurants and high-end hotels, and is ready to work its magic in your wine glass.
