About This Wine:
That is how grape growers describe the view from Pine Mountain-Cloverdale Peak on mornings when much of Sonoma County is swathed in a silvery-white blanket of clouds. It’s almost ethereal.
Among Sonoma County's newest viticultural areas, Pine Mountain-Cloverdale Peak also is one of the highest and most remote. Situated northeast of the town of Cloverdale along Pine Mountain Road — a former stagecoach route once haunted by the infamous “Gentleman Bandit,” Black Bart — it comprises some 4,600 acres, but only 230 acres are planted to grapevines. The growers have found Cabernet Sauvignon to be extremely well suited to the climate, devoting about 80 percent of those planted acres to Cab.
Braxton Hall’s 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon from Pine Mountain-Cloverdale Peak includes a splash of Cabernet Franc in the cuvee. The finished product is multi-layered, showing engaging fruit and spice notes. It’s an amazing wine from cloud-kissed vineyards.
