About This Wine:
The Cornuts have been embracing those standards ever since they acquired vineyard land in France’s Costières de Nîmes area. The appellation was called Costières du Gard up until 1989, and covers the area between Nimes and the Petit Rhone, one of the rivers of the delta rim in Camargue.
It’s basically at the point where the Rhone Valley meets Languedoc, and the soil is made up of round pebbles. It’s an exceptional terroir for grape growing, and the Cornuts use two varieties for which both the Rhone and the Langeudoc are known — Syrah and Grenache — in crafting the cuvee they call “Numa.”
Costières de Nimes wines are usually fruity and rich. and the 2017 Chateau Guiot “Numa” definitely fits that description. It’s a wine that’s true to its place of origin, true to the Cornuts’ family values, and certain to be a hit on your family’s dinner table.
