About This Wine:
But there’s an area within that large appellation that’s known as the Van Duzer Corridor, and it is an anomaly in the Coast Range through which oceanic winds funnel into the valley, creating a cooling effect that occurs as early as 2 o’clock in the afternoon.
This breeze dries out the vine canopy and decreases fungus pressure, making the area highly attractive for grape growing and supporting sustainable practices by drastically reducing the need for fungus spray. When other nearby sub-regions face overly warm conditions, the Van Duzer Corridor is usually slightly cooler — making it a nearly perfect area for growing high-quality Chardonnay grapes.
This is the home of Coehlo Winery, which includes a significant planting of Chardonnay vines in its 35-acre vineyard, along with Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. The 2018 vintage is a delightful wine from an unexpected source for Chardonnay.
