2018 Elementus Red Hills, Lake County California 'C Factor' Cabernet Sauvignon

The high-elevation hillsides of the Red Hills produce grapes — and wines — of exceptional character. Located in the northern Mayacamas Mountains, the Red Hills frame the southwest edge of Clear Lake. Vineyard elevations range from 1,350 to 2,600 feet, with the majority sited at or higher than 2,000 feet.

These higher elevations and Lake County’s pure air allow for greater levels of UV light — as much as 10% more than its neighboring sea-level valleys. This UV triggers thicker grape skins, greater tannins, and ultimately intense wines with high phenolic content.
