About This Wine:
But Washington has a rural side, which accounts for its emergence as an important American wine producer. It even has some winegrowing areas that are geographically isolated. One such area is the Wahluke Slope, which produced the grapes for the 2019 Louwala Proprietary Red Blend.
The Wahluke Slope is bordered by the Columbia River, the Saddle Mountains and Hanford Reach National Monument. As one of the warmest regions in the state, it’s known primarily for red grape varieties, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The wines tend to be ripe and full-bodied with pure varietal fruit flavors — and that’s certainly true of the Louwala Red.
The Wahluke Slope is named after a Native American word for “watering place,” and after taking one sip of the Louwala Red, you’ll forget all about Washington’s big cities.
