About This Wine:
So which variety comes in at number two? That would be Montepulciano, which is predominantly grown in the Abruzzo region of east-central Italy. There, historic records show that it has been around since the 18th century.
Abruzzo lies between the Apennine mountains and the Adriatic Sea coast. Most of western Abruzzo is too rocky to accommodate effective viticulture, so the Montepulciano grapevines are planted in the Apennine foothills, where the climate is warm and receives ample sunshine — ideal conditions for the vines to produce perfectly ripened and flavorful grapes.
The 2019 Montesenese Montepulciano d'Abruzzo comes from a second-generation wine estate, where the third generation is now starting to get involved — a grand tradition in the world of Italian winemaking. The family has vast experience with this expressive variety, and it shows in the 2019 vintage’s deep color, bold flavors and delicious finish.
