It’s also known for producing a wide range of wines in a variety of styles, including Italy’s signature white variety: Pinot Grigio. When not sitting down for a formal meal, cheese, charcuterie and Pinot Grigio make for a tantalizingly tasty treat — something the Italians have known (and practiced) through the centuries.

Federico Stella, the winemaker for Viaggiatore, has a particularly deft touch with the Pinot Grigio grapes that are grown in Pavia. As is the custom at most Italian wineries, Stella uses no oak when making Pinot Grigio, either during the fermentation process or for aging the wine. The goal: to protect and elevate the floral and fruitful qualities of the grapes.

The 2020 vintage demonstrates that style, as it’s packed with floral and fruitful nuances, along with a hint of herbs. It’s an absolutely delicious taste of Pavia.
