2016 Collier Falls Dry Creek Valley, California 'Hillside Estate' Primitivo
Floral, full-bodied and complex, this Dry Creek Valley red can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years.
Country: United States
Brand: Collier Falls
About This Wine:
A trip to California wine country in 1992 planted the seed to move to Sonoma County. By 1997, the Colliers were growing grapes and making wine under the Collier Falls banner. "The valley was intimate and the people were so friendly and genuine,” recalls Susan. “It just felt right."
Their first vintage, a Collier Falls 1997 Zinfandel, earned a 90-point rating in Wine Spectator magazine. It was the first in a long line of award-winning wines, including the 2016 “Hillside Estate” Primitivo.
DNA analysis has revealed that Primitivo, which traces its roots to Italy, and Zinfandel are the same grape. Even so, Collier Falls bottles both a Primitivo and a Zinfandel, and the 2016 Primitivo is a Double Gold Medal winner in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and recipient of another coveted 90-point rating from Wine Spectator.
