About This Wine:

From the very beginning of the state’s viticultural history, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were the standout wines. Later, another red — Syrah — saw significant plantings.

It has been only in the past few decades that grape growers and winemakers figured out that outstanding renditions of Chardonnay also could be crafted in Washington. Considering that the Columbia Valley viticultural region spans 8,748,949 acres — a full third of Washington’s land mass — it only makes sense that there would be a number of micro-climates that would be “friendly” to Chardonnay growing.

Knoll Haven works with growers in those microclimates in procuring fruit for its annual Chardonnay bottling, and the 2019 vintage is an absolutely stunning wine. Only lightly oaked to protect and elevate the alluring fruit flavors, the wine is creamy, clean and fresh — everything you’d want in a Chardonnay, regardless of its place of origin.
