About This Wine:
Business managers keep journals to document profits, as well as areas that need shoring up or perhaps present opportunities for growth. Others keep journals about their daily lives and to document significant events.
Alison Crowe, the director of winemaking for Longhand, keeps a journal — in long-hand — to track vineyards, grapes and wines. She then uses her detailed notes to ensure that Longhand wines represent the best that Sonoma County has to offer, vintage after vintage. It’s a process that has served her well, as the 2018 Longhand Cabernet Sauvignon demonstrates.
Crafted from grapes grown in the acclaimed Alexander Valley region, the 2018 vintage has been described as “pure elegance in a glass.” The key, of course, was having perfectly ripened fruit with which to work. Crowe then devised an ideal aging program in oak barrels to lend nuance to the cuvee — another delicious success story for her journal.
